New 7 Wonder of the World is known as the most famous trekking route in South America route details and photo gallery. Part of the 23,000 kilometers of Inca Trail roads built by the Incas this is Peru's most famous trekking route and possibly one of the most spectacular in the Americas
First Day: Cusco-Piskacucho-Yuncachimpa
The trekking begins at Piscacucho in Chilca. Along the way we will visit the archaeological site called Llactapata.
Second Day: Yuncachimpa- Warmiwañusco –Runturacay
We will have breakfast early and start trekking to the highest point of the Inca Trail trek, where we can see different ecological zones and enjoy changing climates. We will cross the Warmiwañusca pass at 4200 meters above sea level. After lunch we will continue on to the campsite at Pacaymayo and enjoy dinner and a well deserved rest.
Third Day: Runcuracay –Chaq´Icocha – Wiñaywayna
We will walk approximately 45 minutes up to reach the second pass at 3850 meters (12,630 ft) above sea level, and will visit Runcuracay, Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca arqueological sites. After lunch we head to Wiñaywayna where we will spend our last night.
Fourth Day: Wiñaywayna – Machupicchu –Cusco
Very early in the morning about 04.15 am, we will leave Winñaywayna for the Untipunku or "Gate of the Sun" where will have a breathtaking panoramic view of the Machu Picchu citadel at sunrise. From this point, the astonished traveler can contemplate the majesty and grandeur of Machu Picchu. We will visit the citadel aprox. 3 hours. After enjoying the remains, we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes where you will have free time to enjoy the town before we return to Cusco.
